Last night the 18th Delisle Guides with 4 leaders visited the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

Despite being another cold and dark evening the group of 22 young ladies enjoyed a tour of the premises learning about the work of the GSPCA and caring for animals.

Before the tour took place the Rail-J Patrol who had been working towards their Animal Active Badge presented Steve Byrne the GSPCA Manager with a donation of £42.50 which they had raised through a Cake Sale to help animals in Guernsey and they were also presented with their badges from the Group Leaders.

The 22 Guides all brought a donation of animal feed to help care for the many creatures at the Shelter which quickly became a mountain of feed and treats to help those in the care of the GSPCA.

As it was an evening visit the group got to see a very different side of the Shelter as many of the nocturnal animals were up and many of those up in the day were fast asleep.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager who took the tour around the Shelter said 'It was a wonderful evening with very keen young ladies wanting to learn about animals and share their experiences.'

'We must say a huge thank you to all of the 18th Delisle Guides for their donations and those that held the Cake Sale for the GSPCA.'

'I think the highlight for the group could of been meeting our very famous Mr Chips the diabetic cat but it is more likely when they met two of our young kittens that were only 6 weeks old.'

'We must thank them all for their donations and for being a lovely group.'
