Often our volunteer inductions fill the room where we hold them and this week we held the 5th induction of 2016.

On Tuesday we greeted 4 new volunteers which made for a lovely group to talk to at the Shelter in St Andrews.

The volunteer induction was given by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne which started just after 6.30pm.

The new volunteers found out about the work at the GSPCA and how to help safely.

A pack was handed to each and also a certificate of attendance and thanks.

After the talk which took just over an hour each of the interested volunteers had the opportunity to have a chat with the GSPCA Manager and set a date to start.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "This was the fifth induction of 2016 and was a lovely small group which made for a very nice evening."

"We hold regular volunteer inductions so that those wanting to help us at the GSPCA can find out what they can do and start off knowing the rules and how to work safely at the Shelter."

"All 4 have a date to start volunteering with 2 starting their Duke of Edinburgh, 1 volunteer and 1 is coming to do her work experience."

"The next volunteer induction is on Wednesday 1st June at 6.30pm which is during Volunteers Week a national event and we have a full year of dates set on our web site."

"Thank you to all that came and we look forward getting Lucy Ozanne, Grace Juggins, Lawerence Barnes and Noah Khan started at the GSPCA and helping at our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 15th May and one on Liberation Day with one of our stalls."

Win a chance to see Bonnie the grey seal pup to be released back to the wild - http://www.gspca.org.gg/blog/win-chance-see-bonnie-grey-seal-pup-being-released-back-wild-donating-her-final-fattening-appea

The winner will be chosen at random on the 15th May at our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

We need to get at least another 12kg or more on her to be fit enough for the wild and we are hoping this competition will help raise the funds to get that final weight on her and help with the care that she has had at the GSPCA.

The winner will be chosen just after 3pm at Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 15th May.
