Today 7 guinea pigs were found abandoned outside St Martins Church.

All quite young the 7 guinea pigs were found in a very dirty blue box.

This is the second group of guinea pigs that have been found abandoned inn Guernsey in the last month.  Thankfully both groups were found and were brought into the Shelter but the GSPCA would urge anyone that needs to rehome their pets and not to dump them as it puts them at risk.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager 'We often get multiples of pets in due to unwanted litters but to just dump them is not appropriate or responsible.'  'They are living creatures and if they hadn't been found they wouldn't survive.'  'Last year we had a hamster dumped in a bin bag and these poor little animals this month, it's just not needed.'  'If anyone needs help to rehome their pets we would urge them to call the GSPCA on 257261.'

If anyone needs to rehome their pets then please call the GSPCA on 01481 257261 or pop in for a chat with the Shelter staff in St Andrews.

We currently have many guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, cats and birds looking for new homes and these can be seen by going to - http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals
