At the GSPCA we see animals of all shapes, ages and sizes in need of good homes coming through our doors.

Last October a female tabby cat called Amber arrived at 12 years of age.

She couldn't go straight up for adoption as she needed her bloods taken and ensure she was healthy.

After the results came back thankfully she was fine although her kidney levels would need monitoring as she gets older.

We have a waiting list for new owners looking for kittens, but often struggle finding the older cats a new home.

Thankfully not long after Amber went up for adoption a lovely family from Alderney spotted her on our social media sites and got in touch..

The Jones family contacted us and started the process of adoption and after arranging a home visit through the Alderney Animal Welfare Trust she went to her new home just over a month ago.

Amber has settled in extremely well and we have received some wonderful photos of her in her new home.

New owner Jan Jones recently said "Hello Jan Jones from Alderney checking in to let you see how Amber has settled in."

"She not only has settled in, but has taken over."

"She is adorable loves to play, very much a lap cat, is eating really well and drinks well, but only out of the toilet."

"She is going out and using the cat flap like a pro."

"Very vocal and I am beginning to know what her different calls mean."

"I can't believe my luck that we found her, she responds to her name though she gets called all sorts now, Ambi Bambi , Ambi Pure, but she responds to them all."

"The worry I had about a rehome has been worth it all, she has been no problem."

"Thank you once again, this was a match made in heaven."Amber GSPCA Guernsey Alderney cat

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "At the GSPCA we often find it difficult to find the older cats a new home."

"It was wonderful when we heard from the Jones family who fell in love with Amber after seeing her on our facebook and youtube pages."

"At the GSPCA we have rehomed animals across the Bailiwick and if anyone outside of Guernsey is interested in adopting an animal from the Shelter please do get in touch with us."

"Amber is a real star and it is wonderful to see how she has settled into her new home."

"A huge thank you to Jan and her family for taking Amber into their home and their hearts."

"Some of our longer and older cats in need of a home at the GSPCA are Muji, Vinnie, Kenya and Nala."
