Finding each animal a loving new home can often prove challenging as the hundreds in need that come through the doors may well have health issues, behaviour problems or even brought through no fault of their own.

From strays to road traffic accidents, lost cats to cats with welfare issues we help over a 1000 cats each year and help between 100 and 200 find a new home.

Some cats have health issues or behaviour problems and can be with us for many months with one cat taking over 2 years before a loving new home was found.

Towards the end of last year a lovely blue persian cat arrived at the Shelter that a family sadly could no longer care for.

She was with us for over a month, but we often find rehoming longer haired cats a challenge due to their grooming needs.

Biscuit as this lovely 4 year old female cat is called was found a wonderful new home last year and we have recently found out that she has already settled very well.

New owner Mark Freestone said "I just thought I would send you a little update on biscuits."

"She has settled in really well now, and has turned into a lovely persian."

"She is very loving and full of mischief, eats well and put on weight."

"She has got used to being groomed daily, even though she does not like her rear end being done, she tolerates it and her eyes are cleaned daily too."

Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "Although it can be sad when we say good bye to the cats in our care we always make sure they find caring and loving homes."

"Biscuit was a fabulous persian cat and she needed a lot of grooming and care."

"Biscuits new owner is lovely and knows all about caring for persians and we are so pleased she has settled and doing well in her new home."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We have over 300 animals in our care at the GSPCA and over half of them need new homes and ensuring they all find the right home can take some time."

"Biscuit has certainly found a wonderful new home and we are all so pleased for her at the GSPCA."

"There are many other cats and animals in need of new and loving homes."

"One of the cats close to my heart is our longest stay cat Monkey who is a diabetic and has been with us for over a year, she is a tortie and is so so friendly."

"There are many others and for those looking please do check out our website, give us a call or pop in the the GSPCA."

"For those that have a house full of pets or would like to donate to those in our care there are many ways you can see online or please do get in touch."
