Over the last few months a fantastic team from CEPS have been helping out at the GSPCA with a number of projects.

In 2004, the Social Security Department introduced the Community & Environmental Projects Scheme (CEPS). CEPS provides temporary work and training opportunities for people who are not working due to unemployment or long-term illness. CEPS is managed on behalf of the Social Security Department by States Works and project work is selected with training opportunities in mind so that people learn new skills.

The GSPCA are extremely grateful to all of the CEPS team who have been helping with a wide range of work from painting to our charity shop, conservation work to fencing.

The team have helped repair fences and build dry stone walls and much of the work they are carrying out is helping with the plans with St Andrews Floral Group.

With funds always a challenge at the GSPCA the CEPS team have upcycled some gates out of old pallets to help with the safety of animals around the Animal Shelter to mention just one of many fantastic jobs they have helped with.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "The CEPS team have been an amazing help at the GSPCA over the last few months."

"We have been working with the Social Security department with a number of projects in recent years and have helped well over 30 placements with the Work 2 Benefit scheme we launched together at the Shelter in 2014 and one of the girls is now working for the GSPCA."

"Between the CEPS groups and the Work to Benefit scheme in the last two years we have helped over 12.5% of the unemployed in Guernsey at the GSPCA."

"From helping with our charity shop to many projects with st Andrews Floral Group the CEPS team are helping in so many ways at the GSPCA and we are hugely grateful to them."

"The team from CEPS have come up with some great ideas to upcycle things we had on site to carry out some of the work needed to be done and also had a great skill set carrying out the jobs to a fantastic standard."

"A huge thank you to all of the team that helped from CEPS, it really was hugely appreciated."

"Not only have the CEPS group been a great help one of them will be starting work with us later this month."

"Emma will be helping in our charity shop and has been a great help over the last few months."

"We have also employed one of the Work to Benefit placements as Gilly joined the staff at the GSPCA last year."

Steve Le Sauvage is a placement on the CEPS scheme and said "I really enjoy going to the GSPCA its got a great vibe."

"I've been helping build and repair dry stone walls around site and I'm really enjoying it."

"It's really nice being able to help the GSPCA."
