You may have heard about or seen Cinders the cat on the internet or local media.

She came in to the Shelter for rehoming but unfortunately had a number of issues with her health, teeth and gums.

Cinders had an initial opertation and has been on treatment for two months but unfortunately yesterday the brave decision had to be made to remove all but her 4 canines leaving her with a very gummy mouth.

Although never an easy decision, despite a series of treatments, it was decided to remove many of Cinders teeth as it was in her best interest.

Only 24 hours after her operation and although she has a few weeks before we can place her up for adoption she is doing extremely well and is already back to her friendly, loving character.

Anna Carre Senior Animal Care Assistant said 'Cinders is so sweet and her teeth and gums have been so sore and painful.'

'We often get cats with dental problems and it's important that all cat owners feed a healthy diet and check their cats teeth regularly to ensure there aren't any problems.'

'I'm hopeful that the gums will heal nicely and we can place her up for adoption in the next few weeks.'

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager 'Every year we have thousands of stray, unwanted, neglected, sick and injured animals come through the door here at the GSPCA.'

'Cinders is just one of many that without kind donations we couldn't help all of these animals and provide the 24 hour 7 day a week service that is so vital to help care for animals in Guernsey.'

'We must thank those that continue to support the GSPCA and a special thanks to those that have already donated specifically to Cinders the beautiful grey cat.'

Currently the GSPCA is fund raising to build a new Cattery and Quarantine Block.  To find out more details and how you can support us in this much needed facility please go to http://www.gspca.org.gg/about/gspca-cattery-quarantine-build-appeal
