Over the past few months a young wild goose has been seen at a car park on the seafront in L'Eree.

The GSPCA has been involved with rescuing the bird and called out on a number of occasions both day and night to check on the young animal.

On a number of occasions 6 wardens have been out and 3 staff to check on the bird and we did bring the goose in during July and it was found to be in good health.

In our care members of the team did name him 'Paul' and he spent a short while with another goose in our care.

Paul was released away from L'Eree car park but it appears he keeps returning.

The bird is in good condition and the GSPCA believe the reason he keeps returning to the area is due to the bird being fed by members of public using the food sellers in the area.

A number of members of public have highlighted their concerns with the wild bird walking around the car park and despite the GSPCA moving the bird he is likely to return as long as he continues to be fed.

The GSPCA would like to highlight that as long as the bird is being fed he is unlikely to move from the area which is putting him at risk.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We help over 3000 animals in need every year and it is always difficult when we are called out to animals which put themselves at risk, but are perfectly healthy with an instinct to return to an area they shouldn't be."

"Paul the goose who keeps returning to L'Eree car park is proving a challenge, as despite the GSPCA going out to him on many occasions and even moving him he keeps returning as we believe he keeps being fed by visitors enjoying a take away."

"As long as he keeps being fed in the area then he is likely to keep returning and we would urge those in the area not to feed him in the car park as he is unlikely to move."
