Last week staff GSPCA staff Beckie Smith and Teresa Mourant gave a lovely birthday guided tour to Gemma Bailey who was celebrating her 8th birthday with her friends at the GSPCA.

The group started the tour with Teresa introducing Gemma and her friends to Betty the bull terrier who nearly died last year as she wasn't fed enough and fell into a coma.

The tour took the group around the site and behind the scenes finishing with a few surprise gifts and certificates for the group.

Teresa Mourant GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "It was lovely to show Gemma and her friends around the GSPCA last Saturday."

"They loved meeting Betty the bull terrier who has epilepsy and is need of a special home as well as the many other animals at the Shelter."

Beckie Smith GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "It was great showing Gemma and her friends the many animals at the Shelter and telling them about all the work we do helping 1000's every year."

"They found out all sorts of facts about the animals at the GSPCA and the birthday girl Gemma had some special treats stroking some of the animals in our care."

At the GSPCA we have seen a fantastic response to our recent Birthday and Special occasion guided tours and have already got many booked in over the coming weeks.

From young to old we now offer a unique experience for a loved one, family member or friend to see behind the scenes at the GSPCA.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "This year we have started offering unique birthday and special guided tours and they have been proving hugely popular."

"We have also now teamed up with Island Mums and provide card holders a discount on this wonderful experience."

"Our special tours include a behind the scenes tour of the GSPCA in St Andrews with a focus on the special person who may be celebrating a birthday, anniversary or even a retirement gift."

"Each tour is unique as the animals in our care vary from one week to the next and previous one's have helped feed baby birds to Olivia the turtle."

"You can even hire our events room and we have a great caterer who can help us help you provide the full birthday party for you child or loved one."

"Please do get in touch if you would like to know more and to see previous tours please visit - http://www.gspca.org.gg/search/node/birthday%20tours."
