On Saturday near the Vale Primary School around 6pm a 7 year old grey Schnauzer rescue dog called Bertie was scared by bonfire displays and escaped from his back garden.

The GSPCA have been in contact with his owners Clive and Lynn McMinn who are desperately searching for Bertie.

They have been receiving reports from all parts of the community and there is now a facebook site dedicated to helping find him - https://www.facebook.com/HelpFindBertie?fref=ts

Reports have been mainly in the North of Guernsey around the Pembroke, Capelles and Bordeaux area.

Bertie can be quite timid especially with people he doesn't know, so if you do spot him then please call the owners, or the GSPCA is the first instance, unless he is in a secure area where you can close a gate or door to ensure he is contained.

If you do try to approach him he is likely to take off.

With all reports time, location and direction of movement is extremely important.

If you are able to get a picture or video clip this would also help.

All reports to the GSPCA are being passed on to Clive and Lynn who we have spoken to and given helpful advice.

If you find Bertie, or have any other information please call the owners on 07781 145862.

Or if you cannot get an answer please call the GSPCA on 01481 257261 where we have team members at the end of a phone and manning our ambulance 24 hours a day.

There is a reward for his return of £200.

The GSPCA help around 200 stray dogs each year in Guernsey and the majority thankfully are caught and reunited very quickly.
