Over the last year the St Andrews Floral Group have raised over £10,000 and brought together in excess of 100 volunteers to help with the grounds and conservation work at the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
The GSPCA are extremely grateful to St Andrews Floral Group and all that have helped and we continue to look at ways we can work together and improve the grounds for wildlife, flora and fauna.

For the next stage of improving the grounds at the Shelter with the help of St Andrews Floral Group we are concentrating on our wildlife pond which has sadly been dropping each year in level due to a number of issues with its natural lining to hold the water which comes from a natural spring under the GSPCA.
We are continually fund raising to improve this beautiful natural feature on site which benefits much of the wildlife that lives on and around site from birds and ducks to frogs and insects and recently we have received a number of donations to enable us to start this work.
This afternoon representatives from the GSPCA, St Andrews Floral Group, RSPB Guernsey, Guernsey Trees for Life and the Little Tree Project who are all part of the 'Going Wild at the GSPCA Project' welcomed the judges from the Insurance Corporation Conservation Awards.
The judging marks the anniversary from when St Andrews Floral Group started supporting the GSPCA in helping develop the grounds around our wonderful site in the heart of Guernsey.
The work undertaken has included everything from planting natural willow hedges to improving the bio-diversity on site.
The GSPCA are overwhelmed by the success of this weekends Car Boot Sale that was organised and run by the staff at Insurance Corporation.
The team from Insurance Corporation decided that as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility they would like to help organise an event and raise funds for a cause close their hearts.
Last Wednesday we had our second Volunteer Induction Evening which was even more popular than the first.
With 24 in attendance and 18 wanting to sign up as volunteers the GSPCA welcomed the group into the family.
From those wanting to help muck out to those wanting to fund raise they arrived and were welcomed at the Shelter before having a presentation and talk about the work we carry out as well as an Induction to enable them to work safely at the Shelter and during our events.
On Saturday Roy Cochrane held a talk and slide show at Les Coutils about Guernsey Changes.
Over 40 tickets were sold and all enjoyed a cream tea as well as a raffle.
Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant popped down from the GSPCA said 'What a lovely afternoon.'
'Roy did a great talk and we are extremely grateful to him for donating the proceeds from the day to the GSPCA.'
The Guernsey Cheshire Home & The Guernsey MS Society once again teamed up to host the 2013 Guernsey It's A Knockout on Saturday 20th July 2013 in Saumarez Park.
GSPCA Volunteers Jo Fox, Darren Monday and GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne with dogs Toby and Katie attended the fantastic event to help raise funds for the Animal Shelter.
On Saturday the GSPCA received a very concerning call about a kitten that had been seen running off the harbour wall.
Annabelle Janes Animal Care Assistant and Animal Collection Officer was dispatched to the scene in the GSPCA Ambulance on Saturday to the Harbour wall next to the Herm Kiosk.
When Annabelle arrived at the scene the tide was low and the kitten which had apparently run straight out and over the wall had been seen crawling under a near by yacht.
Please don't forget this Sunday the 21st July between 2 and 4pm staff from the Insurance Corporation are running a Family Carboot Sale at Specsavers Car Park to raise funds for the GSPCA and the many animals at the Shelter.
The day will run with an animal theme and there will be plenty to do and see.
Sellers are asked to arrive from 1pm and it is £5 per car.
On the day there will be mini donuts, cakes, animal balloons, face painting and a fancy dress competition (that's humans dressed as animals).
