The GSPCA are delighted to announce our first volunteer induction of 2019 a huge success with 21 new volunteers attending and the first two made a start today.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We had a fantastic night on Monday and inducted 21 new volunteers all wanting to help out at the GSPCA."
"Last year through the volunteer inductions we greeted and trained 189 volunteers not to mention 100's more through other placements, voluntourists and groups."
Last Night we held the last volunteer induction of 2018.
With the 19 new volunteers that attended last night this year alone we have now inducted 189 new volunteers, placements and work through these inductions and are graced with an average 120 volunteers helping each week.
We can't forget the 200+ volunteers from businesses, placements, voluntourists, work experience, community service and others that have also helped this year taking the total well in excess of 400 this year and we are lucky to have over 800 volunteers helping out each year at the GSPCA.
On Monday we held our 11th volunteer induction and greeted 15 new helpful faces eager to help the animals and work of the GSPCA.
This year alone we have inducted 147 new volunteers, placements and work through these inductions and are graced with an average 120 volunteers each week but with over 500 animals in our care there is always plenty to do.

All are welcome, although for those wanting to help onsite at the Shelter the minimum age is 13.
The GSPCA has had a great time at all of the Summer Shows and especially so at the West and North Show thanks to some amazing volunteers from Northern Trust.
On Wednesday 4 staff from Northern Trust helped on our stall at the West Show and 5 on the Thursday and at the North Show 4 helped on the Wednesday and an amazing 9 volunteers on the Thursday.

The induction will took place with GSPCA Animal Care Assistant Sarah langlois who greeted the 20 new volunteers with a few of their friends.
The group learnt all about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely.
Although volunteering at the Animal Shelter starts at 13 for those under 13 they are always welcome to attend and get involved with events and fund raising. We have a huge number of events over the summer and we are always looking for help.

Last month the GSPCA ran the 14th and final volunteer induction of 2017 and in total inducted and trained over 300 new volunteers and helpers through the year from Corporate Social Responsibility days to individuals that help each week.
The GSPCA have planned out the dates for 2018 and the first takes place at 6.30pm on Wednesday 10th January 2018 at the GSPCA in St Andrews.
On the 3rd November a team of staff from Oak Trust Guernsey gave up an afternoon in the office to help the GSPCA.
At the end of July 18 EY staff came along to the GSPCA to help with grounds around site at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
Anoushka Horgan, Alannah Minto, Latoya Copsie, Anna-Kay Aitken, Jemma Green, Toby Belton, Adam Smith, Hannah Campbell, Sophie Cowley, Tom Honour, Patrick Swan, Oliver Tonge, George Steventon, Mikey Wildman, Molly Hamilton, Steph Skiming, Rose Ahier and Glenn Horman all came along to help out with a kind donation that helped buy equipment for the team of wonderful volunteers from Ernst & Young LLP to help around the grounds at the GSPCA.
