Thank you to Waitrose & all the shoppers supporting the GSPCA

During February the GSPCA were overjoyed that the green token Community Matters box at the Waitrose stores in Admiral Park and the Rohais were in aid of the Animal Shelter.

This month GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne was invited along to the Waitrose Admiral Park store to meet Esther Langford Partner Co-ordination Manager who had a wonderful donation of £339 to help the 400 animals at the GSPCA.

Spring is without doubt the busiest time at the Animal Shelter with hedgehogs weak after the winter and baby birds being found and every penny helps make a huge difference.  The GSPCA are hugely grateful to Waitrose and all of the customers for the wonderful support as this donation will help all of the animals in our care at this busy time.

At Waitrose stores by placing a token in the Community Matters box at your local branch you’re helping your community.

The scheme across the Waitrose stores was launched in 2008 and has donated £14 million to local charities chosen by the public. At the end of your shop in branch at a Waitrose store, you’ll receive a token to place in a box of the good cause you’d most like to support.  The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive.

Each month every Waitrose branch donates £1,000 (£500 in Convenience shops) between 3 local good causes that you the public choose.

Waitrose.com also shares a donation of £25,000 between 3 national causes. After checkout, you will be asked to vote for one of the national causes they are supporting. Each cause will receive a share according to the number of votes - just as they do in their branches.
