What is the objective of the GSPCA Build Partner programme?
The Build Partner programme is designed to meet the building costs associated with our new Wildlife Hospital Building. The building is to replace a number of existing structures that are scattered across the site that have become unusable with age.
Our new building incorporates rehabilitation aviaries both indoor and outdoor, seal enclosures and new outer pool areas, hand rear rooms, hedgehog rehabilitation rooms, raptor room, new walk in storage freezer while also providing logistical and organisational spaces and facilities for the day to day running of the GSPCA.
With 145 years of history and a site we have been based since 1929 the GSPCA has a rich history in helping animals 24/7 in Guernsey where we were founded in 1873 and without public support wouldn't exist. Each year the GSPCA helps between 1,500 and 2,000 wild animals and birds which last year saw us help over 500+ hedgehogs, seal pups and so many other species including birds of prey to sea birds.
The sick and injured wildlife that we rescue and care for are currently spread across the GSPCA Shelter in a number of the buildings and this much needed facility would be the first ever Wildlife Hospital in Guernsey to be purpose built. We have been helping approximately 2,000 wild animals and birds annually for many decades and without a doubt will continue to do so. This purpose built facility will give an adaptable and specific much needed hospital area for the injured and sick wildlife of Guernsey which would be rehabilitated in a location away from the domestic species and provide the animals in our care the best facilities we could wish to provide.

The GSPCA are hugely grateful to DLM Architects who are helping draw up the designs for the Wildlife Hospital and the planning process and we are appealing for help and support to achieve this essential and much needed facility.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are launching our Build Partner appeal to help us achieve the much needed Wildlife Hospital new build."
"With 1,500 to 2,000 wild animals and birds through the doors every year we see more wild animals come into our care than domestic species and we have been helping this number of animals for many years and it looks likely to continue and with the buildings we care for the wildlife dating back many decades a new facility fit for purpose and the future is essential and we are appealing for support."
"From seal pups to baby hedgehogs, kingfishers to buzzards, ducklings to loggerhead turtles, bats to voles the variety of wild animals and birds we help is vast."
"To help achieve the new Wildlife Hospital we are launching our Exclusive Build Partner scheme for those businesses and individuals looking to support this much needed build."
"Without Build Partners we couldn't have acheived our multi purpose animal welfare buildings in 2015 which has cared for Slovakian puppies to Olivia the loggerhead turtle, injured cats to stray bearded dragons and we are appealing for those that really want to help us help the wildlife of Guernsey."
"We are asking each Exclusive Build Partner to sign up for a minimum £520 a year for 5 years or a total of £2,600 per partnership and would love to hear from anyone that would like to get involved with this or any fund raising or donations towards our Wildlife Hospital new build."
"If anyone would like to learn more or discuss how they can get involved and support our Wildlife Hospital new build please do get in touch by calling 01481 257261 or email [email protected]."
