We must thank everyone that helped, took part and supported the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

The day was a fantastic success with lots of family fun and enjoyment.

One of the main spectacles was the Animal Mascot Race which took place on Sunday at 1pm and this year the race included -

  • Spacehoppers
  • Sack Racing
  • Spinning Plates
  • Hula Hooping and then having to repeat on the way back

The winners of each Heat went through to one of two semi finals.

1st Semi Final

1st William the Wolf from Best of Guernsey

2nd Nellie the Elephant from KPMG

3rd Freda the Frog from ipes

4th Big the Bird from Justin Keyte Painter & Decorator

2nd Semi Final

1st Doby the Donkey from Best of Guernsey

2nd Charlie the Chimp manned by Charlie Holmes

3rd Prince Frodo the Frog from GMMCC

The winner of each semi final went through to a final with a difference.  This final involved racing with wheelie bins and gladiator sticks.  Not only did they have to race the 400 yard track but also collect as much money as possible to help animals in Guernsey.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'The Giant Animal Mascot Race is one of the main events at the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and this year we had nearly 30 runners taking part.'

'It is such a fun event and it is wonderful to see so many smiles at something that helps  raise funds to help animals in Guernsey.'

'We must thank everyone that took part, sponsored and supported both the Race and the Day.'

'A huge well done to Best of Guernsey and their runners for getting to the final.'

Thursday 24th October – 7.45pm

Art Auction at St Pierre Park Hotel Sponsored by the Heritage Group. If you book a meal at the Victor Hugo Restaurant at the St Pierre Park Hotel then a donation from every meal will be made to the GSPCA. Also the Pavilion will be opening on the evening with their Tennerfest menu and they too are donating proceeds from each meal to the GSPCA.
