Sunday night lamb rescue

Submitted by Steve on 01:04, 9th Dec, 2015 | 0

On Sunday the GSPCA were called out to rescue a young sheep.

The GSPCA operate a 24/7 emergency service and we never know what or when a call may come in.

Sometimes it is a false alarm such as an injured bird which was a wig, an injured seal pup which was a mattress or even an injured hedgehog which was a pine cone.

Most of the time however it is a real animal in distress.

The young animal was caught in some string fencing and after receiving the emergency call volunteer warden Michelle Champion and her husband headed out to the scene in the south of Guernsey.

Police Witness Appeal - Sheep killed - Torteval Area

Submitted by GSPCA on 08:39, 13th Dec, 2013 | 0

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have information leading to the identity of the offender(s) in relation to an incident in the Torteval Area which had occurred overnight Tuesday the 10th December 2013 in which a sheep was killed after apparently being run over by a vehicle.

It appears that the vehicle entered the field by driving over an electric fence.  Clearly this is a distressing incident for the farmer and appears to be a callous and mindless act of cruelty towards a defenceless animal.
