Tonight the winners will be announced for the Guernsey Awards for Achievement Specsavers Unsung Hero as well as many other awards.

We are all very excitied as one of our longest serving members of staff is a finalist for the Guernsey Awards for Achievement Specsavers Unsung Hero.

For over 20 years Geoff George has been a massive part of the GSPCA and at the heart of much of the work we carry out 24/7.

Specsavers join St Andrews Floral Group to help Spring the GSPCA into bloom

Earlier this month a team of staff from Specsavers spent the day helping St Andrews Floral Group volunteers at the GSPCA.

Over the last few years we have received many groups from Specsavers helping at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews from animal care to maintenance.

Specsavers help brighten the GSPCA - a HUGE thank you

Last Friday a team of 25 staff from Specsavers spent the afternoon helping paint around the site at the GSPCA.

The staff were the third group from Specsavers to help this year at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

Yesterday a team of 7 staff from Specsavers spent the day helping at the GSPCA.

The staff were the second group from Specsavers to help this year at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

The group arrived at 9am and had a quick induction, group picture and were then quickly set to work around the site.

The Community Awards were established and hosted by the Guernsey Community Foundation, The Community Awards is the only awards programme in Guernsey that formally applauds the voluntary sector.

The awards celebrate the local charities, organisations, groups, individuals and businesses who work tirelessly to raise money and embark on community projects for the benefit of others, across the bailiwick and further afield.

Dazfest 2014 - Saturday 22nd February 2014 - Tickets on sale

In April 2014 Daz Carre will be running the Marathon Des Sables, a 155 mile run through the Sahara Desert which takes place in 100 degree temperatures. This is pretty extreme.

He'll be doing this for the Specsavers Children's Charity and the GSPCA and The Tav has decided to help him out in his fund raising efforts by throwing a party for him - after all, we might not see him again!
