Last Wednesday we held our ninth volunteer induction of 2018 and the first ever induction evening where all in attendance were male. Often the volunteer inductions held are predominantly female and many inductions have been 100% ladies, but last week we greeted and inducted 3 young men keen to help.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne was on hand to welcome each of the new volunteers, run through their induction with them and presenting each with a certificate of attendance.
This takes the grand total of volunteer inducted through the nine event to 118 new volunteers, placements and work experience since the start of 2018 not including other placements and volunteer groups that have helped from businesses to voluntourists.
The next volunteer induction is planned for 3rd September at 6.30pm but anyone looking to help at the many events we are at please call 257261 or email [email protected]
All are welcome to our inductions although for those wanting to help onsite at the Shelter the minimum age is 13.
For volunteers under 13 we have a huge amount of events taking place which they can help at with a parent or guardian.
The inductions take around 90 minutes and after a talk you get the chance to chat to a member of the team and set a date to start volunteering.

- Flag Day Volunteers
- Fund Raising Volunteers
- Volunteer Support Worker
- Volunteer Receptionists
- Volunteer Membership & Angel Pen Pal Secretary
- Volunteer Cleaners
- Volunteers to dress up as Giant Animal Mascots
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was fantastic meeting and training the 3 young men as new volunteers last week.”
“This year we have inducted 118 volunteers during our induction sessions and already had a further 100 helping through placements and CSR volunteer days from great companies such as Northern Trust, Travel Corporation, Aon, Specsavers and many others.”
“We have our next induction evening on Monday 3rd September at 6.30pm and look forward meeting more new faces keen to help and thank all those that came on Monday two of which have already started.”

- Tuesday 4th December 2018 Volunteer Induction Evening Starts 630pm until approximately 815pm
