‘Purple Power’ for this year’s Skipton Swimarathon

Submitted by Steve on 17:22, 4th Mar, 2024 | 0

The organisers of this year’s Skipton Swimarathon, which is taking place between 4-8 October, have named the 2024 beneficiary as the GSPCA.

Celebrating its 150 years of service to the island, the animal shelter is renowned for the consistent good works it does to help all animals, whether rescued seals in need of recuperation, or missing cats. The shelter, as it is also known, also offers training programmes for animal owners and is entirely reliant on public donations in order to survive.

Wet and wonderful Guernsey Round Table Harbour Carnival

Submitted by Steve on 16:42, 31st Jul, 2019 | 0

The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to join The Guernsey Round Table for their wonderful Harbour Carnival which took place on Friday 19th July.

This amazing event this year was in aid of MUG and Guernsey Mind, two fantastic local charities doing great things to help islanders and we were so grateful to be able to attend with our fly and be involved with the Man Powered Flight.

Seb Goman GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “We entered a team in the Man Powered Flight and this year we were a group of gulls chasing a packet of chips.”

Fantastic Guernsey Round Table Harbour Carnival and thanks

Submitted by Steve on 23:32, 3rd Jul, 2018 | 0

The GSPCA had a great event on the 15th June with the Guernsey Round Table Harbour Carnival 2018.

Once again we were on the Albert Pier and raised hundreds of pounds for the man animals in our care and talked to many interested or keen to support our work with animals.

This year the GSPCA had a team of Puffins in the Man Powered Flight consisting of two staff members and a willing volunteer.

The team had great fun making their costumes and even more fun jumping into the Harbour at this classic Guernsey event.

The Harbour Carnival is a fun-filled family fundraising event in and around St Peter Port Harbour. Events include duck races, dinghy races, paddle board race, tug of war and man powered flight all culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

For 2018 they're putting the community back into harbour carnival with live music, entertainment and a few other carnival touches!

For the first time the GSPCA have a team of Puffin entering into the Man Powered Flight which takes part at 9pm and we will be there with our stall.

On Sunday despite the awful weather a team of GSPCA volunteers headed to Beau Sejour to join the wonderful annual Round Table Christmas Fayre.

The team arrived and started to set up at 8am ready for the droves that arrived when the doors opened at 9.45am.

Helen Holmes, Jo Fox, Joseph Fox and Steve Byrne were kept very busy all day serving the many customers who shopped for their gifts off our stall, Christmas cards, teddies and playing the many games we took along.
