On Monday 20th November 2023 the Lieutenant-Governor His Excellency the Lieutenant General Richard Cripwell CB, CBE came for his first visit to the GSPCA for a guided tour.
His Excellency arrived at 1030am and was greeted by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne GSPCA President and local Vet John Knight and GSPCA Vice Presidents Tom Le Pelley and Adele Malpas.
This October marks the GSPCA celebrating 93 years at our current site in St Andrews in our150th year.
In October 1929 the GSPCA purchased its present site in the area known as Les Fiers Moutons, St Andrews.
The house, outbuildings and ¾ vergee of land were bought freehold for £400.00 plus a further 2 vergees of land for £120.00 and an extra £5.00 included the spring and well.
On the 14th February 1873 the GSPCA was born.
Next week the GSPCA will be over 139 years old and been helping care for the animals both on land and sea in Guernsey for nearly 6 generations.
On Monday we will be posting a number of pictures as well as a write up on the history of our work and the Shelter. We will also be including a little of the plans we have for the future.
So this Valentines Day if you have a quiet night in planned why not read up on the wonderful animal welfare work and love that the GSPCA has given over the years.
