Earlier this afternoon the GSPCA received a call about a very thin seal pup at Pembroke Bay.
GSPCA team members Neil Hughes and Geoff George headed to the beach where they were faced with a grey seal pup extremely thin and needing rescuing.
To make a donation to help the seals in our care please go to https://giving.gg/donate/charity/2/Guernsey-Society-for-the-Prevention-of-Cruelty-to-Animals-(GSPCA)
The GSPCA is warning dog owners of the possible presence of a waxy substance along our coast line which could well be Palm Oil.
We have been informed of a sighting at Pembroke earlier today.
The public is advised not to remove the palm oil but anyone who has picked any up should double wrap it in plastic and dispose of it with their normal refuse.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We have had a report of a white oily substance being seen at Pembroke and we are asking all dog owners to be vigilant.”
On Sunday the Guernsey Cockapoo group organised a wonderful event on Pembroke Beach for dog owners.
Organised by Kerry Le Cheminant they raised an amazing £259 for the GSPCA in just one hour.
Kerry Le Cheminant said “Guernsey Cockapoos arranged a ‘Play Date on the Beach’ on Sunday morning with donations going to the GSPCA.”
“It was a beautiful sunny morning and the dogs had an amazing time playing on the beach and making new friends.”
“There were approximately 50 Cockapoos ranging from 14 weeks old to 8 years old.”
