Today the GSPCA celebrated 150 years and what a day it has been.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Today the GSPCA team, supporters and the island helped us celebrate 150 years since we were first founded.”
“It is wonderful that the GSPCA was founded on a day of love that being Valentines Day, as there is so much shared between all that support and carry out the 24/7 work not just for animals, but the community as a whole.”
“It has been an incredibly busy day at the GSPCA and one we will never forget.”
“From all the amazing media cover to the seal release, the first vet nurse training on site to the dog first aid course, fire drill training to birthday cake, the many rescues to bookings for our Seafront Sunday, welfare work to dog training class we really packed a lot in today.”
“A really fantastic part of today was BBC Guernsey broadcasting a live show talking to so many of our team.”
“Saying that the real highlight was releasing Luna C and Aurora, 2 seal pups back to the wild.”
Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant said “What a wonderful day we had at the GSPCA today.”
“To share all the amazing work we do was really lovely.”
Geoff George Head of Marine Mammals said “It was great to see Luna C and Aurora back in the wild after all their care and to celebrate 150 years of the GSPCA.”
Michelle Champion GSPCA Shop Manager and Volunteer Ambulance Warden said “I have so many favourite memories helping with wardening with the animal ambulance.”
“We have a fantastic team at the Charity Shop and if anyone would like to help then please do get in touch as we help raise the funds so needed to help all the animals we rescue and care for at the GSPCA.”
