International Student from Dubai volunteers at the GSPCA

During the summer we were contacted from Dubai by Jules Mario the Head Boy from Raffles International School who was planning to come on holiday to Guernsey.
Before he came Jules emailed volunteer.gg to see if he could volunteer somewhere in Guernsey during his vacation.
Volunteer.gg put Jules in touch with the GSPCA and he spent a number of days in August helping out after he had completed an induction with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne.
We recently asked Jules to let us know how he felt his days went with us here at the GSPCA.
Jules Mario said "I am a person who enjoys to be with animals, especially dogs."
"So having the chance to work with all kind of dogs was a great experience for me."
"I learned how to react with dogs and understanding them."
"It was a great experience for me."
"The team was enjoyable, attentive and helpful."
"Working with them was a pleasure."
"I learnt how to react with animals, how to treat them and how understand them."
"It is a great experience if you like animals in general."
"I only stayed for a small time, so the only area I helped was the kennels."
"There was a lot of dogs."
"If I manage to come back, I would like to care for more animals and learn more about treating animals."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "It was lovely to meet Jules and he was a great help during his week here in Guernsey."
"Jules helped mostly in the kennels but I did manage to show him around the site before he went home so he could see all that we do."
"Tonight we have a volunteer induction evening for those looking to help us here at the GSPCA."
"We have a fantastic team of volunteers that help out 7 days a week 24 hours a day at the GSPCA and always love to welcome those wanting to help us with the 24/7 work we carry out."
