We always love to hear from owners of adopted animals from the GSPCA and last week we waved Iris the cat off to her new home.
Iris was found as a stray with a few minor health issues including fleas and a little fur missing and sadly with no microchip and despite trying to find an owner she wasn't claimed so was placed up for rehoming.
With all stray animals under Guernsey law we have to care for them for a period of 21 days to give an owner time to come forward and do what we can to reunite them.
Older cats are always more difficult to find a home but thankfully it didn't take long for Iris to find a loving new owner.
With a lovely new home offered a home visit was carried out and last week Iris left the GSPCA to go to her fantastic new home.
Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "Iris was a lovely cat and at 7 years of age she was so lucky to find a new home within days of going up for adoption."
"We often struggle to find the older cats new homes like Lucy who is the oldest cat looking for a new owner at the GSPCA."
"Iris has found a wonderful new home and we are so pleased she has settled so well and we loved the pictures of her looking so happy."
New owner Jenny Taberner said "I adopted Iris today (November 11th) and just wanted to share a photo of her all settled in, she is sat with us on the sofa purring in her little bed watching telly by the fire and she has only been here a few hours."
"I cant believe how well she has settled in, as soon as she was home we opened her carrier, she came out ate all her tea straight away, explored a bit and was jumping on our knees wanted to be stroked."
