Last month another injured kestrel was rescued in Guernsey after a very busy few months with birds of prey.
'Pip' as the female bird has been named was rescued after being found with an injured wing in the Amherst area.
Thanks to the care of the team at the GSPCA and help from local vets the bird made a quick recovery and was recently rung and after a spell in a soft release pen the door was opened and Pip is now back in the wild.
Yvonne Chauvel GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant said "We have had a very busy summer at the GSPCA with birds of prey from owls to buzzards."
"Pip the kestrel was rescued with an injured wing but thankfully it wasn't too bad and we were able to quickly nurse her back to health and have recently released her back in the wild."
"It is always a joy to get wildlife back where they belong and we hope the Pip has a long and happy life."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "At one point in the summer we had 5 kestrels and an owl which has made it the busiest ever year we have seen for birds of prey needing our help at the GSPCA."
"Thankfully Pip the kestrel only needed a few weeks care and after being rung it was great to see her released from our soft release pen at the GSPCA."
"With the bad weather there is a good chance there will be many wild animals needing our help and for advice please do call us on 257261 or we do man the Shelter 24/7."
"If you would like to donate towards the wildlife in our care there are a number of links online or please call 257261 or pop into the Shelter in St Andrews."
