On Friday June 22nd Bring Your Dog to Work Day took place and businesses across Guernsey got involved.

Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity.

When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work.  Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work?

Discussing the benefits of taking a dog to work might just result in a match with a dog we have in for homing.

We rehome hundreds of pets every year, with an average 40 to 50 dogs in need of a forever home in Guernsey each year.

There were many getting involved with Bring Your Dog to Work Day and it was fantastic to see so many lovely pictures of dogs in work places especially from KPMG and Island FM.

We also had a lovely picture and donation from St john healthcare.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "It was fantastic to see so many celebrate 'Bring Your Dog to Work Day' on the 22nd June."

"We had a lovely picture from St John Healthcare as Puzzle and Stella joined them and raised a wonderful £20 which we are hugely grateful for.”

"There are lots of ways to get involved and help the GSPCA and loads of ideas on our fund raising web page."

“Although Bring Your Dog to Work Day is celebrated each June maybe your work place could do it more often and we would love to hear from you if you do.”

“The funds raised during Bring Your Dog to Work Day have been used towards repairing our kennel floors which has been the biggest project we have had this year costing over £70,000 due to drainage issues.”

“The kennels look fantastic now but we are still raising funds to help what was essential work.”
