This year we the Petplan and ADCH received over 5,500 nominations from adopters, supporters, charity staff and volunteers.
They are thrilled that so many people have nominated to recognise the fantastic work that goes on in animal charities every day to help rescue and rehome pets in need. Their tireless efforts really do help to improve animal welfare.
Due to the quality and quantity of nominations received, the impartial and independent judging panel, which includes key industry representatives, had an extremely difficult task selecting three finalists for each category.
We have a very special team of individuals here at the GSPCA. Both staff and volunteers work around the clock to help animals in our care and around Guernsey 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Each quarter we ask for nominations of those that have stood out amongst the team and here are the results for those nominated for Volunteer and Staff Member for Autumn/Winter 2014 -
Jackie Le Marchant
The GSPCA couldn’t carry out saving, rescuing and caring for the thousands of animals that come through the doors every year without the support of the staff and volunteers that work tirelessly every day and night.
To recognise the team for the first time at the GSPCA we have been asking for nominations to recognise the staff and volunteers for their dedication, hard work and outstanding effort.
Nominations were accepted both in house, online and via the post and we received an overwhelming number of wonderful comments for five staff in particular and fifteen volunteers.
Last year the GSPCA were nominated for the 'Charity of the Year Award' at the Community Awards and we would like to ask you if you would vote for us this for 2013 as the Awards are now open.
Whether it is a fundraising project run by a local charity, a group of individuals or a team from a local business, or simply individual members of the public who feel motivated to do something for charity, Guernsey has an exceptional ability to raise money and contribute many man hours to the voluntary and community sector.
Do you know of any extraordinary animals and the people who dedicate their lives to them? ITV have a brand new programme to celebrate these animals and people and they need you help.
The Awards will be filmed in front of a live studio audience with winners voted for by both the public and a respected group of animal experts. They need your nominations and want to hear your stories about:
