On Saturday a team of staff from Source Recruitment arrived at the GSPCA to help around the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
This is the second time their wonderful team have helped and the GSPCA are extremely grateful to Source Recruitment as not only did they do a great deal to help at the Shelter but they are also a Silver Angel Pen Pal Sponsor and so help support the many animals in our care.
The GSPCA would like to say a huge thanks to Paws for Support for allowing us to join them at Fairfields for their Open Day and Fun Dog Show that took place on Saturday afternoon.
The GSPCA took along lots of games and raised over £120 for the 500+ animals in the care of the Shelter.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We had a lovely afternoon at Fairfields on Saturday for the Paws for Support Open Day and Fun Dog Show.”
“It was lovely to see and learn about the great work they are doing for therapy and assistance dogs in Guernsey.”
On Saturday volunteers donned costumes, sashes and GSPCA buckets to collect outside of Alliance.
An amazing £495 was raised and we are so thankful to all involved.
Michelle Champion who organised the flag day at Alliance said “With so many animals at the GSPCA every penny helps them and the work the Shelter does 24/7.”
“A huge thank you to Alliance, all that supported and helped from all at the GSPCA.”
“We have lots of events upcoming and anyone that would like to volunteer please do get in touch.”
At the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews we have three permanent and also casual posts which we are currently looking to recruit individuals with excellent customer and animal care skills.
Working for the GSPCA is a diverse and often challenging position with great rewards from the 3000 animals we help through the doors 24/7 each year to the community we serve here in Guernsey.

Every Autumn the shores of the Bailiwick see grey seal pups being born, and the GSPCA are issuing advice today because of the inclement weather we have seen recently.
The earliest grey seal pup we have rescued in recent years was Temperance who was found during the last week of October last year.
In recent years every winter the GSPCA have helped rescue and care for grey seal pups.
The GSPCA are reminding dog walkers that once again from today you can take your canine friend on the beaches around Guernsey.
Guernsey has restrictions on a number of beaches during the Summer months which are then lifted during the Winter.
With the restrictions lifted the GSPCA would like to remind pet owners to be mindful of the Wildlife that live and feed along the shorelines.
Here is a breakdown of the restrictions which have been lifted as of the 1st October until the 30th April.
Join us tomorrow on Saturday 29th September from 1pm for the Paws for Support Open Day and Pet Dog Show
Paws for Support are launching their new charity Paws For Support with an open day and fun pet dog show.
We will have our GSPCA stall there and would like to thank the organisors for the kind invite.
Some of the things going on include -
Over the Summer months trained volunteers and staff from the GSPCA carried out extensive searches in the southern area of L’Ancresse Common after a dog walker reported seeing the tail-end of a fairly large snake enter the gorse.
Nearly 3 months ago a dog walker reported what was thought to be a snake with the tail-end being about a metre in length and several inches wide.
In January 2017 Captain Jack arrived at the GSPCA covered in paint with bald patches and sores.
After cleaning him up we discovered he had very sensitive skin and with a unique character so needed a special home.
After nearly 18 months in our care this Summer we found that forever home and recently got an update on how happy he is.
His new owners said “Here are some photos of Captain Jack, as we know he stayed with you for a long time and you might miss him.”
“Looks like he settled well.”
“He is a really lovely cat!”
