This week Ellie the seal pup enjoyed her first dip.

Ellie has now joined seal pups Joey and Titan in our rehab pools as she is strong and well enough to do so.

We are really pleased to report that Joey is eating well on his own and Titan and Ellie are learning what to do and putting on weight daily.

Can you donate or even sponsor them to help support our vital work and support us celebrating #GSPCAPurpleWeek

IMPORTANT MESSAGE from GSPCA as sharp increase in sick and injured pigeons

Submitted by Steve on 21:48, 4th Feb, 2021 | 0

Some love to see pigeons around Guernsey and others think of them as pests but regardless of your thoughts the GSPCA have seen a sharp incline of sick and injured pigeons especially in and around St Peter Port.

With worries of a number of bird diseases at this time of year from Avian Flu to Newcastle’s Disease the GSPCA have been monitoring the sick and injured birds that come into the care of the Shelter and since the start of 2021 we have seen 100% increase with sick pigeons many showing neurological symptoms.

Poorly guillemot caught up in fish or crab netting now safe at the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 17:54, 26th Jan, 2021 | 0

Today the GSPCA was called out to a seabird tangled in netting.

GSPCA staff member Beckie Bailey when she arrived at Petit Bot rescued the guillemot in a life threating situation as it was that badly tangled it wouldn’t have survived if it hadn’t been for the kind person discovering the bird and calling us out.

Beckie quickly transported it back to the GSPCA Animal Shelter where we are carrying out our essential work helping hundreds of animals.

When back at the Shelter the bird was freed from the green netting and is recovering well at the GSPCA.

DUE TO LOCKDOWN DO NOT VISIT THE GSPCA UNLESS ESSENTIAL – please call before visiting

Submitted by Steve on 15:57, 23rd Jan, 2021 | 0

As we are all adjusting to the latest lockdown in Guernsey the GSPCA as an essential service is operating for animals in need but please do not come to the Shelter unless it is an emergency and please call us on 01481 257261 before your visit to speak to a member of the team to ensure we minimise any risks and explain our social distancing procedures in place.

The GSPCA has taken rapid steps and have continued working in a safe manner since before the start of the pandemic and we want to ensure we are here for the animals and community we serve.
