On Monday 7th August GSPCA staff member Tim Pellett spent the day learning about saving lives but instead of animals it was for human beings.

We recently spoke about Beckie Bailey who had enjoyed her day learning first aid and with 25 staff and 120 volunteers helping each week, not to mention the tens of thousands of visitors every year to the GSPCA, the Shelter has to ensure we have enough trained first aiders in case of an incident or accident which as we all know can happen whether your at home or out and about no matter how safe the environment.

Tim went along to Les Cotils on Monday to be trained in Emergency First Aid at Work with St John Training Services Guernsey.

Tim Pellet GSPCA Community and Training Officer said “I had a great day with St John Training Services Guernsey yeasterday.”

“Much of my role is supporting those helping at the GSPCA and having carried out this training means that heaven forbid there’s an accident I can help with the training I’ve received.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager “It’s great to hear that both Beckie and Tim have enjoyed their first aid training.”

“We have a number of the team trained in human first aid and Lorna and I had our re-fresher training earlier this year with St John Training Services Guernsey.”

“We run dog and cat first aid courses at the GSPCA which has some similarities and the next dog first aid course is in November.”
