2017 Starts with 21 New Volunteers joining the GSPCA

On Thursday we held the first volunteer induction of 2017 at the GSPCA and saw a packed room of 21 new helpers keen to learn how they can get involved with us here at the Animal Shelter.
The induction took place just after 6.30pm with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne talking to the group about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely.
GSPCA staff member Gilly McClean was also there to help and chat to the group of new volunteers aged from 13 years upwards.
At the end of the induction many set dates and times to set and on Friday the first volunteer started with 11 further having their first day over the weekend.
Of those attending Hollie, Aimme, Olivia, Pia, Lauren, Amanda, Izabelle, Jess, Georgie, Josh, Eleanor, Sophie, Alicia, John, John, Min, Sue, Ian, Sophie, Minnie and James were looking to help from cleaning kennels to socialising cats, 13 Duke of Edinburgh placements to a University student looking to have her placement at the GSPCA, fund raising volunteers to those helping where ever they can.
At the end of the evening all were given a certificate of attendance and a pack of information and a hand book.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are extremely lucky at the GSPCA to have so many amazing volunteers that help us around the clock 7 days a week."

"We hold regular volunteer inductions for those interested in getting involved with the next set for Tuesday 7th February at 6.30pm."
"Every week we see over 100 volunteers and helping us cover the 24/7 work we carry out 365 days a year but with over 350 animals in our care there is plenty to do and we are always keen to get those interested involved with the work we do helping thousands of animals every year in Guernsey."
