Last May Hector a lovely black cat arrived at the GSPCA.
Sadly during his year we discovered a variety of health issues from diabetes to other ailments.
This meant many of the team handled this adorable chap twice a day as he required regular medications morning and night with a special diet.
Anna Paint GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant said “The Amazing Hector has left the building to go to his forever home.”
“He had lots of kisses, I gave him a kiss from everyone, he walked up the cattery chatting to all the cats, I’m sure he was saying goodbye.”
“Hector said a big thank you to everyone who has spent extra time with him on night shifts, falling asleep with him, Beckie and to his other amazing Auntie Ali, we are sure going to miss him, a little black cat that stayed happy no matter what life threw at him.”
Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “Mr H I will always have a very special place in my heart for that boy.”
“I will miss him dearly, but how wonderful he has a home!”
Sarah Langlois (pictured) GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “Aww, bless going to miss my evening kisses such a wonderful boy wish him all the best in his new home.”
Ali Le Huray GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “Such a special man.”
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We all have a very special place for Hector here at the GSPCA and we are all so overjoyed that he has his forever home.”
“Hector needed medicating 8am and 8pm ever day and many of us spent many hours looking after this sweet cat.”
“The older cats and those on medication are always the hardest to rehome.”
“In fact we are still trying to find Pongo the diabetic long hair black and white cat his forever home.”
“We have lots of animals in need of homes at the GSPCA including fish, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, ferrets, degus, a stick insect, cockerel, birds and others.”
“Please remember if you live in rented accommodation or States Housing you need to ensure you have written permission and to see the States Housing procedure please go to https://www.gov.gg/article/119684/Family--Pets .”

“Animals come into the Shelter for all sorts of reasons and we have to ensure each is suited to a home that can meet its needs.”
“The GSPCA is a self-supporting Guernsey charity and we depend on the people of the Island for the funding needed, more so now than ever to maintain our work for the animal welfare and rescue work that is carried out 24 hours 7 days a week.”
“Just a couple of pounds each month can make a massive difference in helping the animals in our care and to find out more please go to http://www.gspca.org.gg/sites/default/files/Angel%20sponsor%20form%20special%202018%20new.pdf .”
