On Sunday the GSPCA held its first ever event in conjunction with Beau Cinema which was a MASSIVE success.
The sell out showing of the Secret Life of Pets at Beau Sejour with the GSPCA team and animals was a fantastic afternoon with the 400 ticket holders being joined by hundreds of other visitors viewing the animals from the Animal Shelter, saying hello to the Giant Animal Mascots, playing the many games, having photos and supporting the work of the GSPCA.
The reception area of Beau Sejour had a giant kennel where visitors could have a photo with mascots Beausi Bear and GSPCA Dog Bernard.
There were other volunteers dressed as animals collecting and with dogs to meet the visitors as well as many of the film goers in fancy dress of their own.
The GSPCA had a stall with lots of games and goods on sale and there was a large area of animals from the GSPCA.
Some of the animals included two budgies which have found a loving new home thank to the event, snake Pollyanna, Freda the rabbit, 3 rats, David the degu, Jasper the Amazon parrot, ferrets Ghost and Gizmo, two resident tortoise Scramble and Lord Jeremy Vine.
Many of the visitors got to touch and say hello to the animals most of which are in need of good homes.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "What an amazing day we all had on Sunday at Beau Cinema."
"Without doubt it was one of the best events we have ever held at the GSPCA with so many fantastic volunteers and supporters helping make a wonderful afternoon."
"Over £1100 was raised which is much needed to help the 350 animals at the Shelter and with those animals we took along two of the budgies found a new loving home."
"For those that bought raffle tickets we have phoned all of the winners of the prizes and thank you for those that supported."
"Everyone seemed to have a great time meeting the animals and helping raise funds and it sounded like all really enjoyed the film as the laughter from inside the screen filtered out to where we were in the reception area."
"There are so many people to thank for making it such a fantastic afternoon from our amazing volunteers to the team at Beau Cinema and Beau Sejour and with a sell out screening it is hoped we will be able to do another event sometime in the future."
"Next month we celebrate 144 years of helping animals in Guernsey and to celebrate we are holding our annual GSPCA Purple Week from the 10th February and we are asking all to help raise funds to help the many animals in our care."

The team at Beau Cinema said "WOW! Now that we have had 24 hours to recover from our Animal Antics event with the GSPCA we thought we would post some of our favourite photos of the event! Thanks to everyone who attended, we hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Steve from the GSPCA is still counting the pounds raised for their charity, but we are sure it will be a worthwhile amount so thank you for your kind donations. Please let us know if you enjoyed it and if you have any feedback to make an event like this even better next time! #ThankYou"
