After arriving at the GSPCA just after 930am this morning local vet and President of the GSPCA popped in with some of his team from the Vetcare Centres to provide Barnacle Bill which much needed treatment.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Local Vet and President of the GSPCA John Knight arrived at the GSPCA not long after Barnacle Bill’s arrival.”
“With his team they managed to get all the barnacles off now Barnacleless Bill and provide a range of antibiotic treatments and has now been placed in an intensive care unit at the GSPCA and is very lively swimming around in the new enclosure.”
"When Barnacle Bill arrived the turtle was 1.255kg and now the Barnacles have been removed weighs 885g which must be such a relief."
“Barnacle Bill is just one of many casualties due to Storm Ciaran.”
“The winds and the storm have sadly caused a lot of damage and our wildlife have really struggled but we are here 24/7 when needed just call 257261 or op to the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.”
