Mr T who has many pet names such as Top Hat and Mr Thomas is a cat that without an operation would most certainly have a much, much shorter life. Mr T has cancer and needs to have the tips of his ears and part of his nose removed.
Poor Mr T is an amazingly friendly cat who came in the night Guernsey had it’s first blackout last month. He was found with a hole in his foot full of maggots. Volunteer Head Warden Bryony Nicholls, with staff members Richard Chandler and Steve Byrne cleaned out dozens of maggots under torch light at the GSPCA Animal Shelter whilst Mr T was as good as gold.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager said ‘It is amazing, Mr T would have been in so much pain and he laid there as if he knew we were helping him.’
No owner came forward for this poor little fella and it has become apparent after a number of vet checks that he has cancerous cells which if they are not removed quickly he will most certainly have a very short life.
The vets think that by removing parts of his ears and his nose with two operations 6 weeks apart we can hopefully save this lovely cats life.
People often don’t think of cats getting cancer but it is a very real risk especially with white and light coloured cats in the sun.
The operation and care for Mr T will certainly be in excess of £600 and if anyone would like to help donate towards his care and operation then please phone the centre on 01481 257261, pop in to the shelter or click on the paypal link on our fundraising page www.gspca.org.gg/fundraising
Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant who has been looking after him said ‘He is such a sweet cat.’ ‘We all love him very much and we really hope that this operation will be a success, he so deserves a happy ever after.’ ‘We hope that people will help donate towards his operation and towards the many other animals that we rescue and care for.’
Without your help the GSPCA couldn’t do the much needed welfare work we do every day. Thank you for your support.
