Following the success of last year’s Family Fun Day at the KGV, the Guernsey Sports Commission and Generali Worldwide are inviting islanders to try a new sport and have fun at the KGV playing fields on June 18th.

There will be 15 sports to try and there will be something for everyone, regardless of their age or level of fitness. Have a go at boxing, cricket, judo, rugby, athletics, softball, volleyball, basketball, sailing, Gaelic football, golf, netball, badminton, activity challenges and free play. Pick up a bat, take a swing, test your ball skills or even learn more about sailing the local seas – sports coaches and volunteers will be on hand to help islanders of all ages to try something new.

Guernsey FC’s Roary the Lion and Male Uprising Guernsey’s Louis the Lobster will be making guest appearances and youngsters will love the balloons, face painting and bouncy castles.

The Guernsey Sports Commission hopes families will make a day of it and there will be ice creams, a picnic area and a BBQ.

This will be the second Family Fun Day and is a result of Generali Worldwide’s donation to the Sports Commission in 2015.

“The day is part of our Get Active, Stay Active initiative, which aims to bring sport and the benefits of an active lifestyle to the widest possible audience. Come down to the KVG and try something new – it might spark a new hobby or activity that can help you keep fit and healthy,” says Jenny Murphy, Sports Development Officer for the Guernsey Sports Commission.

All the sports activities are free of charge and the day promises to be a fun and active way for families to spend a few hours together.

Giorgio Daboni, Chief Executive Officer, Generali Worldwide in Guernsey, comments: “Last year’s event was tremendous fun. It was great to see so many islanders trying a new activity and enjoying the day. We are delighted to see our donation being used for these kind of community events.”

The GSPCA will be joining in the fun with our fun games stall and goods on sale to help raise funds for the 100's of animals at the Shelter and we hope to see you there for what is set to be a great day.
