The team at the GSPCA are overjoyed to report that on Saturday Bob the diabetic cat was waved off by staff and volunteers to his forever home.
Nearly a year ago Bob was found as a very poorly grumpy stray cat which we never found his original owner.
It wasn't long before he was diagnosed with diabetes and after some time and a lot of tests both his health and temperament improved greatly during his time at the Animal Shelter.
10 months on and Bob has been without doubt one of the sweetest cats and although he needs a special diet and injections of insulin every 12 hours we were pleased that he found a new home.
Tom McLagan GSPCA Animal Care Assistant rehomed Bob to his new owner on Saturday and said "It was lovely to see Bob go to his new home on Saturday."
"His new owner was very happy to be taking him home and both looked very happy to have found one another."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We always find the older cats and those with medical conditions more difficult to find good homes at the GSPCA as often those looking to adopt prefer younger cats or kittens."
"Bob has been an amazing cat and will be missed by us all and although it was sad to see him go we are all pleased that he has found a fantastic new home."
"Bob arrived 3 days before Christmas last year and it is lovely to know that this year he will have a Christmas in a loving new home."
"Our two older cats in need of special homes are Kit-kat and Lucy."
"Lucy is the oldest cat at the GSPCA in need of a home and Kit-kat has health issues which means he needs to be an indoor cat."
