Farewell and good luck Annie from all at the GSPCA

Today was Annie Janes last day at the GSPCA and it was rather emotional for her after 3 1/2 years at the Shelter in St Andrews.
Annie joined the team in 2011 as an Animal Care Assistant, although she has worked on all departments including the reception desk, ambulance and even assisting with welfare work.
One of the most memorable last year for Annie was when she removed a dog from a hot car on a sunny day in St Peter Port with the police.
Another memorable moment was when she helped rescue Hanois the grey seal pup at Pleinmont at the start of 2013.
Annie spent a week at the RSPCA Mallydams Wildlife Hospital which gave her the chance to look after many animals that we never see in Guernsey.
We are sure Annie will never forget the day she helped with the release of the seal pups Eden and Trinity on Jethou last May, not to mention all of the other memories from hand feeding kittens to hoglets, cleaning maggots off hedgehogs to reuniting stray dogs.
After today's morning meeting we played Annie Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' and filled her day with surprises and thanks.
At the morning break Annie was given a bag full of gifts and keep sake's as well as a framed picture of her with the dog from the hot car made of hundreds of pixelated pictures from her time in Guernsey and at the GSPCA.
One of Annie's last duties was releasing two hedgehogs Ben and Rupert who were collected by a lovely family that were going to release them this evening.
Annie Janes said "I have had such a memorable last day at work."
"The tears started in morning meeting due to Steve playing some sad music, Helen covering my morning break where I was given some lovely gifts and my final countdown through the day from Geoff."
"Going to miss you guys."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We recruited Annie back in 2011 and she has been a fantastic member of the GSPCA team and we will all miss her."
"From dressing up to raise funds to the Christmas Day Polar Bear swim, hand rearing hoglets to her seal rescue, covering night duties to giving guided tours and school talks Annie has experienced the full range of work at the GSPCA with the animals and in the community."
"Annie is moving to Jersey and has a new job at the JSPCA and we wish her all the best from all of the team and animals at the GSPCA, thank you for all of your work and support over the last few years."
