This Friday June 26th is Bring Your Dog to Work Day.
Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity.
When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work. Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work?
Discussing the benefits of taking a dog to work might just result in a match with a dog we have in for homing.
We rehome hundreds of pets every year, with an average 40 to 50 dogs in need of a forever home in Guernsey each year.
To see some of the dogs looking for homes please click here.
Lorna Prince Animal Welfare Manager said "We rehome and help dozens of dogs every month through the Shelter and the dog training classes we run at the GSPCA, and it is really nice to hear of those owners that can take their dogs to work."
"Not every dog owner has the right type of work place to take their dog or dogs to work, but why not ask your boss and see what they say."
"Annie my little dog often comes to work with me which she both enjoys and often earns her keep with helping with tasks around the Shelter such as school visits or seeing how dogs in for homes behave around other dogs."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Many work places on a Friday have a mufti day but why not look at it with a twist and see if your dog can come along with you for 'Bring Your Dog to Work Day' on the 26th June."
"There are lots of ways to get involved and help the GSPCA and loads of ideas on our fund raising web page, but this Friday don't forget if you can please do take your dog to work."

GSPCA relaunch capture for Jessie after her release from the trap this morning whilst on route to collect...
Posted by GSPCA on Wednesday, 17 June 2015
We are working closely with Jessie's owners to help in the search of their dog and we all appreciate the wonderful public support and reports so far.
We would like to highlight that Jessie is a very nervous and timid beagle cross who has only recently been adopted from a UK rescue and is scared by people and loud noises.
She is an 8 year old, female, white and brindle beagle cross with no collar.
If you do spot Jessie please call us at the GSPCA on 01481 257261
Please do not approach or try to catch her as it is likely to scare her away and not help with her safe capture.
If she is in a secure area where you can close a gate or door then please do so and give us a call at the Shelter immediately.
With all reports the time, location and direction of movement is extremely important.
If you are able to get a picture or video clip this would really help.
At the GSPCA we have team members at the end of a phone and manning our ambulance 24 hours a day.
We are doing everything we possibly can and our team are on stand by to help in the safe capture.
There is a reward for her safe return of £200.
To call the GSPCA please ring 01481 257261 and if you have any pictures please email them to [email protected]
We continue to help in the search of Bertie the stray schnauzer that went missing in November last year, but sadly we have had no reports in some time but if you see him please follow the same advice as above.
