On Sunday the 14th December the GSPCA and Guernsey Cheshire Home are holding a Christmas Fayre and the first ever Santa Paws Dog Walk in Guernsey.
Doors open at 11am at the Market Bistro and Inner Market Building in St Peter Port.
Inside the Market Building we will have pet supplies and stockings, gifts, face painting, Guernsey Cheshire Cook Book, games, tombolas, craft stalls a Santa Grotto and much more.
In the Market Square we will have Beechwood Choir singing carols and also Deputy Daugs in the Stocks.
Food and refreshments will be available from the Market Bistro who we are hugely grateful for allowing us to organise this event at their restaurant.
At 11.30am those taking part in the Santa Paws Sponsored Dog Walk after registering and being judged can start their Sunday stroll along the sea front and back to the Market Building where they will receive their certificates and prizes for the best dressed dog and owner. There is no minimum distance and to download a sponsor form please
To set up a Just Giving page please
If you haven't managed to raise any sponsorship you can still take part and all we ask is a minimum donation of £10 which will be split between the Guernsey Cheshire Home and the GSPCA.There is no minimum distance to walk but a suggested route will be handed out on the day taking around 20 minutes.
We are asking all dog owners to ensure they please keep their dogs on leads and if you forget poo bags they will be on sale inside the Market Building at the registration table.
The choir are planned to sing from just after 12pm and at 12.30pm a number of Deputies will be going in the stocks to help raise funds for both charities.
The Santa Grotto is open to children and dogs and photos will be available.
If you have a choir that would like to come down to help entertain the crowd, can help volunteer, would like to take part or help in any way we would love to hear from you.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are all really excited about our first Santa Paws Sponsored Dog Walk helping raise funds for the animals at the GSPCA and for Guernsey Cheshire Home."
"It would be great if we can get as many dog owners to take part as possible and you don't have to worry about the weather as we have our Christmas Fayre in the inner market building which means after your walk you can shop with you beloved dog in the warm and dry."
"You can either raise sponsorship for the event or register on the day for the Santa Paws Sponsored Walk and we are hoping to set off at 11.30am, but late arrivals are welcome to join in."
"There will be a prize for the best dressed Santa dog and owner."
Alex Jenner Events & Fundraising Co-ordinator Guernsey Cheshire Home said "It's not just the Santa Paws Dog Walk going on but we will have our Deputy Daug's in Stocks."
"We have quite a few local Deputy's going into stocks and well you will have to come down to see what you can do."
"We also have Beechwood Choir coming along and there will be lots on offer and to do."
"From both ourselves at the Guernsey Cheshire Home and from the GSPCA we would like to thank the Market Bistro and all that have allowed us to put together what will hopefully be a fantastic day."
