The Petplan and ADCH Awards -
Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) have joined forces for the third year of these Animal Charity Awards.
The inspirational event celebrates outstanding animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK who go that extra mile to help rescue and rehome animals in need. Petplan has worked closely with animal rehoming centres for over 30 years and sees first-hand the fantastic work that goes on every day to help improve the welfare of animals.
These awards provide an opportunity for people to recognise the dedication and commitment of charity staff and volunteers, and give pet owners a chance to say 'thank you'.
Last year after more than 5000 nominations a member of the GSPCA team was lucky enough to be selected as a finalist in the Animal Charity Employee of the Year category.
Yvonne Chauvel our Senior Animal Care Assistant and longest serving staff member was the lucky lady and everyone was extremely proud of her and that all the wonderful work she puts in had been recognised.

Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant said "It was quite sad that I was unable to make it across for the award evening due to fog, but it was such an honour that I was short listed as a finalist from so many people."
"My sister went along and she called to let me know the winner of the Charity Staff Member of the Year for 2014 was Jenna Martyn from the Blue Cross in Burford and I’ve seen the video of what she does and it really is amazing."
"My sister and I were invited by Petplan which was so very kind."
"I received my finalist trophy back in May and it is just wonderful."
"Watching the videos of all of the finalists on youtube brought tears to my eyes as there are so many good people helping animals in fantastic ways."

The Ceva Awards -
Could you vote for someone in Guernsey for an Animal Welfare Award with Ceva for their work, commitment or volunteering contributions.
We are blessed with many volunteers and committed individuals that help across the Bailiwick of Guernsey in animal welfare around the clock every day.
The categories to nominate are -
- Chris Laurence Vet of the Year Award (in association with The Veterinary Times) This award is to recognise a veterinary surgeon working in practice that follows the footsteps of Chris by educating pet owners and consistently demonstrating their commitment to the continued improvement of animal welfare.
- VN Times Welfare Nurse of the Year Award (in association with Vet Nursing Times) This award is to give recognition to a veterinary nurse working in practice who has shown real commitment to improving and championing excellent animal welfare within their practice.
- Charity Professional of the Year Award (in association with PDSA) This award is for an individual who works within a charity organisation who is consistently driven to perform to the best of their ability, with the single minded goal of helping save and improve the lives of animals in need.
- Charity of the Year Award (in association with Your Dog and Your Cat magazines) This award is for an awe inspiring team whose drive and passionate dedication has changed the lives of animals for the better. Improving the standard of animal welfare wherever they can, tirelessly promoting and championing their cause.
- Volunteer of the Year Award (in association with Blue Cross) This award is for someone who, through their amazing dedication and tenacity has helped improve animal welfare and who in their own free time goes above and beyond the call of duty to improve the lives of animals either in the UK or internationally.
- Farm Animal Welfare of the Year Award (in association with NADIS and RABI) This award is for someone who works within the farming industry, and who strives to provide or encourage high standards of ethical and compassionate farm animal welfare. We want to award someone who has made a tangible difference to the welfare of farm animals through direct action or through education awareness.
- International Cat Welfare of the Year Award (in association with International Cat Care) This award is for someone working internationally and not in paid employment by a charity. We are looking for someone who has provided voluntary help with a feline welfare project and in so-doing have contributed towards making sustainable local changes.
