GSPCA team can’t understand why the owner of a stray Senegal Parrot hasn’t come forward

Today marks 5 and a half weeks since a stray parrot was found and rescued in Vazon.

The very friendly adult Senegal Parrot arrived on the 25^th June after being rescued by a member of the public and the GSPCA team are really shocked that an owner hasn’t come forward.

We are appealing for any information if you think you know the owner or if they are your birds please call the GSPCA on 257261.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Although if a stray isn’t claimed after 21 days we are able to find them a new home we are really surprised that a Senegal Parrot that was rescued in Vazon over 5 weeks ago hasn’t been claimed.”

“The bird often says Charlie amongst other phrases so we have been calling it this instead of Vazoon which was the first name and enjoys a head tickle so has definitely been a much loved pet.”

“We do sometimes find with birds especially that people don’t think to let us know when they lose their feathered friends.”

“If you have information who the owner might be or if you think they could be your birds you can call the GSPCA on 257261.”

“We have held off with rehoming Charlie just yet, but normally with all strays if not claimed in 21 days once healthy they are put up for adoption and we do have a variety of birds currently looking for homes.”

“We are having one last push, but if not claimed we do have a home interested in this lovely bird.”
