Recently the Guernsey Press put a fabulous article about 3 Freemason Lodges helping 5 charities.
On the 11th November 2023 Mariners Lodge No 168, St Sampsons Lodge No 2598 and Lodge Fidelis No 1809 held a Ladies Night at St Pierre Park Hotel.
Funds raised during the event were shared between Chelsea Pensioners', the Gurkha Welfare Trust, the Friends of the PEH, Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief and the GSPCA.
The evening included fund raising and entertainment and a lot of fun was had by all while raising funds for these worthwhile causes.
W Bro Rob Grant who helps arrange the visit from the Chelsea Pensioners and Gurkhas said “We are hugely grateful to the wonderful donation from the 3 lodges that put on a fantastic evening raising funds to help us ensure we can bring the Chelsea Pensioners and Gurkhas to Guernsey during special times like Armistice Day.”
W Bro Gary Le Cloarec the Worshipful Master of Mariners Lodge No 168 said “Myself and the two Masters from Mariners Lodge No 168, St Sampsons Lodge No 2598 and Lodge Fidelis No 1809 are great friends and we decided some time ago we would like to put on a joint event for charity.”
“We spoke to our wives about which charities to support and we all decided it should be Chelsea Pensioners', the Gurkha Welfare Trust, the Friends of the PEH, Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief and the GSPCA who are all wonderful organisations and groups.”
“The Ladies Night took place on the 11th November at St Pierre Park Hotel and it was really great and we raised loads of funds for them all.”
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “What amazing night everyone had on the 11th November where £1000’s was raised for the 5 charities.”
“From all at the GSPCA a huge thanks to all involved especially all those from Mariners Lodge No 168, St Sampsons Lodge No 2598 and Lodge Fidelis No 1809 and their partners for putting on such a great night.”
“The GSPCA received an amazing £552.67, thank you so much from all of the team and the animals.”
