Today is Feral Cat Day and we are appealing for special homes for some of our special cats.
We have 5 cats that the team at the GSPCA would love to find a forever home but need that special owner.
Muji is a long haired tabby and white 7 1/2 year old female cat that can be very nervous. When her owner moved sadly Muji wasn't allowed and she has been with us since October 2013 in need of that special someone who will let her have the time and space she needs.
Vinnie a black and white 1 year old male was found as a feral kitten. He was rescued last September and is still unsure of people, especially those he doesn't know. Again he will need a quiet home and an understanding owner.
Kenya is another black and white 7 year old cat. Kenya was found as a stray in June 2013. Once again although Kenya is much more confident since when he was found as a semi-feral, he is still nervous of those he doesn't know.
Pedro is a black and white 5 year old male that always appears a sweet and loving lad but can sometimes be the type of chap that would like his own way. Pedro has been rehomed previously from the GSPCA but was returned last December.
Lastly but by no means least we have Madame Mitzi. This gorgeous looking 10 year young feline was sadly brought in April 2013 and is our longest stay cat. Not only has she been at the Shelter for over a year and a half in need of that purrrfect owner but she was sadly brought in as her owner had passed away. She as the previous four and her name suggests requires a home that will allow her to be the Queen she is. She can be quite affectionate but can have her moments. (Mitzi is pictured above)
All 5 cats although not true ferals thankfully, all require understanding owners and those that will give them the space that they want and need.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager "At the GSPCA every year we help rescue and rehome feral and semi feral cats."
"Those cats at the Animal Shelter that are nervous or timid and indeed the ferals that we help at the GSPCA really need a special kind of home and if you think that is you we would love to hear from you."
"You will see that many of those still in need are black or black and white cats in need of homes."
"In many parts of the world feral cats are a huge problem and if you think you have feral cats not being cared for or cats with kittens near to your home then please do give us a call."
If you are interested in one of these or any cat from the Shelter please call 01481 257261, pop in to the Shelter or check out those in need on our cat rehoming page by clicking here.

Definition of a feral cat -
A feral cat is a domesticated cat that has returned to the wild, or the descendants of such an animal. It is distinguished from a stray cat, which is a pet cat that has been lost or abandoned, while feral cats have never been socialized. The offspring of a stray cat can be considered feral if born in the wild. In many parts of the world, feral cats are the offspring of unwanted domestic cats.
