Early last month a young kitten survived a near death experience.
A member of the public when out on a drive heard a strange noise coming from their car and when they stopped they discovered a young kitten who was barely old enough to be away from his mother.
The kitten understandably was extremely scared and bolted. Some time was taken in catching the young animal which survived a very dangerous situation and has been at the GSPCA for almost a month after Sarah Ozanne who was the GSPCA Ambulance Driver went out to rescue the kitten.
As with all stray animals no matter age or species they are held at the GSPCA for 21 days to try and reunite them with their owners. Sadly with no identification or microchip and no lost kittens reported, after the 21 days the kitten has now been vaccinated and is fully healthy.
The kitten which was too young to be out on its own was likely born as a feral, but at the GSPCA being so young he has quickly made friends with the team at the Animal Shelter.
The young male kitten at first was named 'Rambo' but the team have shortened his name to 'Beau'.
Beau has proved to be an extremely sweet and nice natured kitten, and the team at the Shelter have been working through the list of those looking to adopt a kitten and we hope that Beau will soon be in a loving new home.
Sarah Ozanne GSPCA Animal Care Assistant and Ambulance Driver said "When we first rescued Rambo who we've now called Beau he was full of fleas, a belly full of worms and was extremely scared after his ordeal."
"It is wonderful to see him doing so well a month after he was rescued and at the GSPCA we are all looking forward to finding him a new home."
Tom McLagon GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "Beau is very sweet and although very scared at first he is now doing very well."
"We have a list of people looking to adopt kittens and we will hopefully have him in a new home very soon."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Beau was very lucky to survive after being trapped next to a car engine."
"In colder climates cats often crawl into parked car engines to keep warm and thankfully it is rare for this to happen here in Guernsey."
"Beau had lots of health issues when the young kitten was first rescued a month ago and it is lovely to see how well he is now and we look forward waving him off to a new home very soon."
