Only days left to get your entries into our Virtual Petshow so we can all celebrate animals in Guernsey and our pets past and present. Sadly due to the Coronavirus the GSPCA has had to postpone it's biggest Seafront event and fundraiser of the year until 2021.

Our Seafront Sunday, due to take place on Sunday May 31st is the biggest celebration of animals in Guernsey and raises much needed funds for the Shelter. This money is vital to enable us to continue with all of our essential work with companion animals and wildlife across the Islands.

One of the biggest events on the day has always been our pet dog show and so we have decided to expand this event and enable us all to celebrate pets and wildlife during the Island lock down while helping us to raise money for the Charity at this very difficult time.

Entries are open with an extended two days until May 26th to give as many islanders as possible to join in.

Judging will take place and winners will be announced on May 31st which should be our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday via our facebook page and website. Winners will receive a rosette, certificate and GSPCA t-shirt.

Our class list:

1. Happiest pet(s) -  lets see your pet at it's happiest; in the mud, eating dinner, making a mess!

2. Family selfie - as important members of the family, pets bring us so much joy. We'd love to see your family.

3. Animals in action - whatever your pet enjoys doing we'd love to see them; jumping, digging, running, flying, swimming

4. Sleeping pets - as we all try to relax and stay at home let's learn from the experts

5.Magazine cover model - photos that would make the front cover of a magazine; all of our pets are superstars.

6.Red carpet reptiles - let's not forget the reptiles in our lives

7.Pet most like it's owner -  as we stay safe and spend more time at home maybe more of us are starting to resemble our pets :)

8. Pets during lock down - how are you caring for and entertaining your pets while you are in lock down?

9. Wildlife  in the home / garden - this can include any species; birds, spiders, snails, anything at all!

10. Gone but not forgotten - in memory of much loved but lost pets. The friends that have passed but never leave our hearts

Lorna Chadwick GSPCA Animal Welfare Officer and organisor of this event said “We launched our first ever Virtual Petshow and have extended entries to the 26th May when we will then judge the entrants and announce the winners on what should have been our biggest event of the year.”

“On the 31st May 2020 we would have been holding our 9th GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday but this has had to be postponed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions in place.”

“We really didn’t want to have to postpone the event so we are bringing it to you in Virtual form by this Virtual Petshow so we can all still celebrate our animals in Guernsey.”

“We really hope this will be a fun way of celebrating the world of animals, fish, birds, garden bugs, the list is endless.”

“We hope you will enjoy supporting this event and the Shelter as we try to navigate our way through this very difficult time for all of us.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “A huge thanks to Lorna and volunteer Helen for putting this wonderful event together and you can see many of the amazing entries on our facebook page already.”

“It was a very sad day when we had to postpone our 9th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday until 2021 but we all now have this and a number of other virtual events.”

“Keep an eye on our facebook page for the latest details on this and the other great events keeping you busy and entertained during lock down.”

“We are really looking forward to your pictures of your pets and wildlife and all the funds will help ensure we can care for the hundreds of animals at the GSPCA like Pebbles and Andrew the seal pups to the many baby birds in our care.”
