Lorna Prince, the GSPCA’s Welfare Manager and a member of the Firework Consultative Group attended the Group’s annual meeting at the Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters. The Groups aim is to promote awareness and educate people about the responsible and safe use of fireworks and to think about the effects they have on neighbours and animals.

The Consultative Group has put procedures in place over the last few years, for both the professional firework operator and the amateur, which have reduced greatly the nuisance of fireworks and brought to everybody’s attention that fireworks can cause distress to other people and animals that may be some distance away from a display.
