Last Wednesday the GSPCA welcomed 14 new volunteers to the Animal Shelter and on Sunday another 3 keen cat lovers were taught about cat first aid.
Sarah Creasey the Animal Education and Welfare Officer inducted 14 new volunteers who were keen to help in all sorts of ways from fund raising to mucking out.
The evening consisted of introductions, all about the GSPCA, health and safety and the areas that those that attended can help here at the GSPCA.
On Sunday we then held another Cat First Aid Course where we trained a further 3 attendees what to do for their feline friends if faced with a first aid situation.
After a theory session we took a short tour of the cattery and some practical hands on with Mr Chips the cat.
This Sunday we have our next session for Dog First Aid and there are still spaces available.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Every 6 to 8 weeks we hold volunteer induction evenings and we are always greeted with a wonderful group of keen, kind and helpful individuals wanting to assist us caring for the thousands of animals that we have through our doors and also fund raise for them."
"We are really keen to find volunteers that can help on our very busy reception desk and would love to hear from anyone interested."
"We also had a lovely morning on Sunday for the Cat First Aid Course and the next Dog First Aid Course is this Sunday."
"We also have the WEA and GSPCA Animal Care Course starting again this September which we are very excited about."
