Only 2 days to go and Natalie Randall one of the Shelter volunteers has stepped up to join GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne, Animal Collection Officer Geoff George and Animal Care Assistant Tony Gallie who are all doing the whole 38.5 miles around the Island to help raise funds for the annual event and the 2013 chosen charities.
The walk has now become one of Guernsey's key fund raising events for local charities and attracts several hundred participants every year determined to complete the nearly forty mile route.
2013 is the sixteenth year that the walk has been held and each year significant sums of money have been raised. In 2012 the walk raised nearly £52,000 and with your help we will hit a similar level this year.
Their chosen charities for 2013 are ourselves (GSPCA), Guernsey Voluntary Service, Guernsey Ambulance and Rescue Service, Friends of the Priaulx Library, St Martin's Day Service, Every Child Our Future.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'We are very grateful and excited to be part of the Itex-Rotary Walk 2013 and all eager to get under way on Saturday.'
'Geoff, Tony, Natalie and I are looking forward to the walk and hopefully the sunny weather.'
'It's a long way but we've had lots of practice walking dogs, catching animals and looking for strays which should all help.'
