We always love to see the animals that we have helped and rehomed living happily ever after and we recently had an update from a cat called Pumpkin and his owner.

Pumpkin was found as a stray nearly a year ago with all sorts of health problems and extremely thin. After a couple of months of care and treatment he improved and we were able to find him a new and loving home.

Anna Paint GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant said “Pumpkin when he first arrived had a lot of health problems and was so so thin.”

“After a few months of care we were able to find him a new home and it is fantastic to see him so happy.”

“We often find the older cats fore difficult to rehome and it was wonderful when Dr. Phil Rankilor adopted Pumpkin.”

“Lucy is our oldest resident cat in need of a home at the GSPCA and she is so sweet and really needs that special someone.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Every year we help over 3000 animals that come through our doors and Pumpkin was one that really did need our help."

“After weeks of care and veterinary treatment we were able to find him a loving new home and it is fantastic to see him so happy and enjoying life.”

“There are many ways you can help us help the cats in our care even if you can’t offer one a home.”

“From sponsoring a cat pen to sharing those in need of home on your social media, you can even visit the cats in our care looking for a home for a donation of just £2 between 11am and 4pm 7 days a week which helps us feed at least 2 of the cats for that day.”

"Next month is the GSPCA Purple Week to celebrate 144 years of helping animals in Guernsey which and also a time to celebrate all of the hundreds of thousands of animals we have helped over so many years."

"There are lots of ways to get involved with a website page full of ideas."

New owner Dr. Phil Rankilor  said “Eight months ago I got my little cat renamed Pumpkin.”

“Since then he has grown into his new name and is enjoying a relaxed lifestyle as you can see.”

“He is a great companion and we have a great time together in my little flat.”

“Please thank all at the GSPCA and tell them that their good work to bring Pumpkin to health was well worth it as he now is eating me out of house and home.”
